annoyingly I didnt get up again today, paryl due to it being a total whiteout, not actually seen clouds so low in Morzine yet this season and mostly because I didnt finish work till early afternoon and had to start work again 2 hours later. how shit was that?! whats worse is tomorrow is change over day so I probably still wont see the slopes...that said im getting up early and getting on it just so I can at least try to get out tomorrow. Im going to go insane otherwise!

But this is how low the clouds were in the Zine.

 

Aside from that annoyance my helmet is fixed, well kind of. The chin strap clip is broken as it falls out all the time unless its done up! so just gotta remember that when I take it off, blatantly need a new one but at least I got one till I can afford another. Better still though, I have some shiny new goggles and am going to pick up some wrist gaurds tomorrow, I have a feeling im gonna need them. As im done with cruising around theres a park with my name on it and im gonna go live in it and not leave until I have something worth shouting about. Could be a while there :P Time to get bloody damn good. Its what I came here for.

Not like I have anything to share I spent the day repairing/servicing my boards as it was sunny and we all know I dont have a high vis lense to see anything so I took a rest day. Basically watched films all day haha. Full recharged ready to kick some ass tomorrow. Oh repaired my helmet too, so one less thing to buy, hurrah!

For the brief moments I was outside in the sun I did see this.

Its a hot air balloon incase you cant tell. Must be amazing to be in that on a today like today. Just abit jealous! anyway the xgames! go! watch now.!

A Modern Myth

Fair play to the people that decided to do this..

 

whoever Kyle is, he has to live with this everytime he goes over on the lift until it snows haha. GUTTED! Also kudos to the effort in design, only one set of foot prints, clearly done it before :P

Anyway! today was the first time since I bought my new board at the end of freaking may that I got to ride it and it was amazing! was pretty weird to begin with not used to such a soft or responsive board, the new boots are great as are the bindings, so muxh padding taking the shocks out of jumps now too the point im throwing myself of stuff just to test how well it is working haha. All round its a glorious setup :D so check it out!

its going to be so much fun with all the snow due over the net two days, hurrah! time to get some tricks down methinks.

Right best get back to being bored on the bar, 4 hours and the only person I have served is myself...why is it open on a wednesday? everyone goes out?!!?

Open up your eyes

So today was a rest day, a much needed one at that so the entire day was spent watching the O'neill Evolution highlights (check out, http://www.oneill.com/evolution/videos.html) and the Nitro movie "what goes up must come down" as its sheer class :D

So yeah not alot to tell you really, its a boring one in regards to updates, though having spent the afternoon in the jacuzzi (great for the injury recovery! feel brand new!) looking up at the mountains I did have to question my sanity of going to uni....though that said wouldnt of met the great people I have so :P

Nonetheless I have picture for you, it is the view from the chalet however the actual focul point is just how low are the clouds?! the second floor here was level, if not above them.

All Around Me

went and checked out the swiss wall today, with a skier, who enjoys the flats, fucking annoying! they are pain! but that said only got stuck once for the many miles of it covered! at which point I stole his ski pole and "paddled" (the motion) my way across haha. works a treat, saves walking :P

So! the Swiss wall, for those that dont know its the crazy run into switzerland, now by crazy, its very steap and even the piste groomers dont attempt to clear it. A snowboarders nightmare, alright for me that my lift pass doesnt allow me to get back if I did go down so that wont be happening anytime soon :P


Tried to show how steap it is but put it this way, I didnt see the slope meet the bottom, just part of the run off!

 

All snow around that crafted section is apparently flat, look at the state of it, watched for 20 odd minutes, never saw  single boarder, wonder why!

On a plus note my "holy shit check out that view whilst on a chair lift photography" is getting good if I do say so myself, this was on the run home from Avoriaz to Morzine, buses are for lazy people, snowboard home dammit :D

Rolling in the Deep

deep snow...I wish! thats tomorrow, today was just a little sprinkle, tomorrow is going to be a dump day! thank fook for that as im sick of the ice patches!

no real amazing pics taken today as it was practically a whiteout with the clouds but no real snow annoyingly but hey ho! bring on monday though when everyone has fucked off and I dont have to wait 20 odd minutes to catch a lift. A freaking hour it took today just to get across to where I wanted to be, Hadnt even strapped myself to my board in that time, annoying!

My other grievance is im now actually developing a hate for old/middle aged fat skiers. Mostly down to me racing (30mph plus) along the ice flat and  a fat middle aged skier looks at me, then cuts me up clips the front of my board and I face plant the ice. Pleased I was fucking not. took me 10 minutes just to get catch some breathe and see straight again, and to make sure I was actually alive and not imagining stuff etc. utter wanker!

Anyhow, anger aside, I have respect for these skiers who are currently using a half built chalet as a snow playground, they have built a run/jump up the center wall with cameras and fog lights filming it all, so far it looks pretty damn cool! kinda want to try and join them haha

Shovelling in the Snow

So the videos I left my computer uploading crashed out so nothing got uploaded yesterday, which means Ive lost the challenge, which has pissed me off haha. But to account for the stupid failure here is a fair few pics. Sadly as of yesterday and today I have nothing exciting to share, over than THERES SO MUCH SNOW!! freaking tons of it not been this much in 10 years. Going to be an amazing season.

Although this has meant digging the drive everyday, 10 times in 5 days ive done it, today I didnt even get to ride due to removing all the ice :( but tomorrow! its my day off and there will be lots of awesome pictures!

Oh hell! Went to a Capita party (snowboard brand for those with no clue) presented by attack attack, was a raffle to win a free board and I was 1 freaking number out! but Susie (previous post) won it with no.92 I had 93, lucky girl! clearly chivalry doesnt pay off as we got the tickets on the door and she went through first...chivalry can now die, not bitter at all haha honest.

but for now, enjoy what some of the ones Ive taken over the last few days you have yet to see!

Its this much, honest!

Its official, as official as the words of many return seasonnnaires is, there has been more snow here in the last week, than the entire of last season! Which is just abit epic :D has meant ive shovelled the drive, twice today..

Anyhow I can finally say ive been in real powder, off piste etc and im shit learning haha. Tiring but so much fun!  Snowdomes sure as hell do not prepare you for anything like this. not at all.

I wana crawl back in!

So yeah this is abit of a late one due to just finishing my shift on the bar, been there since 5pm and im up at 7am for the breakfast shift. ah well shit happens, least thats the last time itll happen! Its also a quick one as i refuse to lose the daily pic challenge so im staying up just to type this!

Remember all that talk of snow I muttered on about in my last post? well this is how much was there this morning, bare in mind that railing had nothing on it yesterday.

That made for such an amazing sehs today at times i was literally digging myself out of stuff just to get going again. That and I looked like a snow man once I got off the Lift, and to top it off it snowed all day till about 2 hours ago. so its going to be pretty sweet tomorrow! 

I do have videos and other interesting pictures to show you, but that will all come in some big post tomorrow. for now I need to sleep. Shattered is an understatement.

So earlier I mentioned hail, then some aforementioned possibility of snow. well it is currently dumping it down, even if the lifts are closed again, urban rails it is!

Ride Another Day

The lifts, for the first time in no idea how long, even my boss cant remember when and hes lived her for 10 years, the lifts were closed today. ALL OF THEM! its been a sad day. A meter and half has settled up top and all I can do is look. More annoyingly, tourist office is adament itll happen again tomorrow. Even more annoyingly, its bloody gale force winds/pissing it down in Morzine thus there is no snow for me to be able to even have an urban sesh. 

However as I literally type, the skies have opened and the sound of hail is thundering through the chalet, give it an hour or two and itll be snow, tomorrow urban sesh may be on the cards! FUCK YES! 

I was going slightly insane getting cooped up inside with nowt to do, as a result shopping happened and as my gloves are utter diabolical and useless Ive forked out on a sexy new pair! Originally 120 euros got them for 65, bargain! that said im sure my bank wont be pleased I used my card but hey ho! They are the don, goretex and all that! ill never feel wind or rain again haha!

So yeah this post may not have been the most thrilling, but fuck all has happened so what can I do? 

Happily/worringly, the bar is open in the chalet and drinks are near to half price (dependant) for us staff and we each have a tab...that could be the best mistake thing ever haha.

The Final Countdown

The cleaning is almost over! I am beyond sick of any shampoo/steaming machine that I never want to see another one again! The bastards create more work rather than making it easier. As such I was going to share a video I took of someone running the park during some competition a couple of days ago as Ive not been outside today to tell you whats going on, other than its been pissing it down with rain for a good day 1/2. So theres snow out there, somewhere...but after two hours its failed. twice! so instead here is a pci of my snowboard with its shiny new sticker.

Its also Chalet Eira (eh-ra, welsh for snow I recently learnt) 10th birthday tonight, so free bar is equalling a piss up. going to be sweet!

Chocolate coated waffles are gooood

So good ive nearly devoured a pack nom nom. So the last stage of prepping the chalet for the fftw (friends for the week aka guests) has seen me relay cloth for the pool table, which turns out to be near damn impossible to do it without creases. Why does it come folded?! fools. As well as clean the outside of windows and the bar! This is literally all ive done all day so thrilling update I provide you not. That said the anticipation for my next shred is growing more and more as it has rained all day and I can see the snow building up there :D

What intereting views you get when standing on a roof! and yes I was careful before all you healthy and safety bores moan at me. Jeez, live a little.

What goes up Must come Down

So this will really be short. As all ive done all day is lay carpet in the ski shop. So many god damn shapes to got out too! Yes I was doing this the other day but I got the weekend off thus had finished it today. I would show you a picture but I never bothered taking one. So instead enjoy a picture of the glorious drink that is Mutzig which ranges from 6% - 8.5% happy days, like playing roulette!

Teddy bear Picnic

Just a short update today! too tired to sit and write a mammoth post and more importantly I have a free snowboard film to watch thanks to the guys I met in Attack Attack! latest Nitro movie What goes up must come down, winner!

so my riding seems to be coming back after the whole hoo-haa of yesterday, not impressed! but then some cheeky bastard skiers took off from the edge and cut me up and I stacked it into the ice, bruised knees galore! a few choice french/english/frenglish words were shouted. Alot.

Anyhow heres something pretty random, well to me at least:

 Inflatable teddy bears? they are plasted over various hotels...not a bloody clue?!

Im listening to The Prodigy incase you didnt guess but anyway, the lifts are finally open!! well at least for Avoriaz, but heck snow at last! annoyingly six months of trying to surf and not snowboarding has ruined any skill I had and I spent the day relearning. ugh ball ache! nonetheless its coming back, helped by the fact I thought sod it and chucked myself down a red run for a warm up! Some amazing runs here, and deep snow too! walking along and falling down into waist deep snow comes as abit of a surprise. Even decided to check out Switzerland, not that I could go down into it as I wouldnt be coming back!

So that barrier and mountains are Switzerland! if I wasnt shattered, in desperate need of food and drink then I would of done a dance across/on the border. As you do! Perhaps tomorrow?

A bonus atm is all the new gear is available to from the cable Cattle lift as you leave, was like walking into a festival, music, people, a ton of tents and damn good place to be! May have to rent a gopro if I can get my shit together sharpish!

Singing in the Rain

So as Im typing this im crashed out on the floor recovering from laying carpet in the chalet ski shop! however the wait is over, tomorrow the lifts open, my board is waxed, edged and ready to go. cannot wait! 

Anyhow its been raining here recently and normally I would be dissapointed with the rain washing away all the snow. but as the saying goes, if its raining in Morzine, its snowing up there! So check this out:

like the song says...check out the frozen lake a few miles away from Morzine, people were playing ice hockey on it, brave bastards, werent that frozen haha. 

thats the lake (name unknown to me) from either side. good mile, mile 1/2 round so bloody big haha. otherwise all i can inform you of tody is I have a lift pass now. woohoo (weekend is going to be epic!) and I bloody ache from the 18 rooms of steam cleaning carpets + the four hallways and lounge. what a twat of a job. ah well I get to ride this weekend so I couldnt give a damn :P
